DATE: 8 April - Event 4 - Day 2 of Australian 3 Day Championships VENUE: Pratten, 40km west of Warwick, Queensland Australian University Sport (AUS) along with Orienteering Queensland invite university students throughout Australia to participate in the 2012 Australian University Championship - Orienteering (2012 AUC - Orienteering). The championship is being held as part of the Australian 3 Day Championship centred at Stanthorpe in the Granite Belt Region of Southern Queensland. To register to compete in the 2012 AUC - Orienteering, enter online as part of your 2012 Easter Carnival entry. Encourage your university orienteering friends to enter, to ensure that your university is eligible for the teams event. |
Competition Format and Schedule
The 2012 AUC - Orienteering will be conducted in accordance with the competition rules of Orienteering Australia and the AUS Orienteering rules.
The AUC category will be held as part of Day 2 of the Australian 3 Day Championships.
Students must enter an age class for which they are eligible, that offers 'hard' navigation. The km rates of each participant is compared to the km rate for the fastest male and female student, to determine the individual place getters and also the team result. The km rate is adjusted on the basis of 1% for each km in distance of the longest course.
Eligibility
All participants must be current university students of an AUS member university. To confirm eligibility, universities will be sent an eligibility certificate listing competing students and will be required to returned the eligibility certificate signed.

- Complete the online entry form on the 2012 Australian Easter Carnival website by 2 March 2012. Inform your university sports association of your intention to compete as they will be required to confirm your eligibility.
- AUS will forward a list of student entries to universities on or before Friday 9 March to confirm eligibility to compete. The university will then be required to complete and sign the eligibility certificate and return it to AUS before Friday 23 March

Results and Presentations
AUC medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in both male and female categories. The overall champion university will be awarded with a pennant and the AUS Orienteering Champions trophy. Race results will be available on the Carnival web site each evening. University results will be available the week following the event on the AUS web site at Results Central.
